Privacy Policy

ReceiptMate ("the App") is designed with your privacy as a primary principle. All receipt scanning, text recognition, return tracking, and storage occur directly on your device. ReceiptMate does not transmit your personal financial records or receipt photos to external servers, and contains no third-party tracking or advertising SDKs.

1. Data Processed on Your Device

ReceiptMate keeps your data private and local:

Camera & Photo Library: When you scan a physical receipt or import an image, camera and photo access are used exclusively for capturing or importing the document.
On-Device OCR: Optical character recognition (OCR) is performed entirely on your device using Apple Vision framework. Your receipt images and parsed text are not sent to any cloud processing service.
Receipt Records: Merchant names, dates, amounts, categories, tags, return deadlines, warranty durations, serial numbers, notes, and receipt images are stored in the local application container on your device.

2. Biometric Authentication & Security

ReceiptMate offers an optional biometric lock feature (Face ID / Touch ID / Passcode) to safeguard your financial records:

Authentication is performed directly by iOS via Apple's LocalAuthentication framework and Secure Enclave.
ReceiptMate never accesses, receives, or stores your biometric data.

3. Notifications & Reminders

ReceiptMate can send you alerts before return windows close or manufacturer warranties expire. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device through the iOS notification system. No notification tokens or receipt details are transmitted to external push notification servers.

4. Backups, Exports & iCloud

You have full ownership of your data:

Manual Exports: You can export your receipts database (receipts.json) or CSV summaries at any time using the standard iOS Share sheet. You choose the destination (such as the Files app, iCloud Drive, or AirDrop).
iCloud / Device Backups: If you include ReceiptMate in standard iOS device backups or save files to iCloud Drive, that data is handled by Apple under your personal Apple ID and iCloud security settings.
ReceiptMate does not run background sync servers or transmit your database to third parties.

5. Retention & Data Deletion

Your records remain on your device until you decide to modify or remove them:

You can delete individual receipts at any time from the receipts list or receipt detail screen.
You can delete all stored receipt data at once by selecting Settings → Delete All Receipts.
Uninstalling the ReceiptMate app from your iOS device immediately and permanently deletes all locally stored receipts and application files.

6. Third-Party Services & Analytics

ReceiptMate does not use third-party analytics SDKs, crash trackers that collect personal information, or advertising networks. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share any user data.

7. Support Inquiries

If you contact customer support via email, we receive your email address and any information you choose to provide in your inquiry. This information is used strictly to assist you and resolve your question.

Please do not include sensitive financial account numbers or unredacted payment card details in support emails.

8. Website Information

These informational pages are hosted using GitHub Pages. GitHub may collect technical connection data (such as IP addresses and browser headers) for security, maintenance, and diagnostics in accordance with the GitHub Privacy Statement. These pages contain no advertising or cross-site tracking scripts.

9. Updates to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
